The Bloody World of Mr Weird

Strata has started a Halloween story called "The Bloody World of Mr Weird." We've disabled the link for right now. She's making the pictures with Seashore (a free application for the Mac) and is building it over Yahoo's Geocities. Check it out. It's very creepy.

For some reason, things are really picking up in our family right now. Fall used to be a time to settle in and relax. Those days, apparently, are long gone. We're going over to a friend's for a playdate/dinner in a few days, my sister's birthday is coming up, and NaNo starts on November 1st. And remember, there is also a Young Writer's Program. I will find out in November, too, if I have a new job. (It's a gooood one. )

Then there is the dark side. Dennis is getting buried at work. He's losing 3 key people, and his assistant manager is going on maternity leave soon. The brilliant City Council we have also has set Halloween to be on FRIDAY, meaning for the first time ever he is going to miss out on Trick or Treating with the kids. It's just too busy to spare anybody ... including the several single moms that will have to work.

Here are the addresses for the City Council:

David Flattery,
Richard Inman,
Matt Bemrich,
Don Wilson,
Cindy Litwiller,
Dan Payne,

Please write and let them know that Beggar's Night and Fridays don't mix. Not only are working parents not going to be able to get the night off, but there's going to be more traffic. More unsupervised children + more cars on the road = high chance of accidents.

Dennis is under a lot of stress, so if you see him out and about, give him a pat on the back. He deserves it.

I don't know how well I'll do with NaNo this year, but I'm excited to give it a whirl again. Writing a novel in a month is no small feat (and most of the writing is simply atrocious) but it's a really fun, wild way to connect with other writers and get past all those excuses we build up over the years.

Good luck everyone!
